Thumb/Palm
Functions:
- Corrects “Claw” Hand
- Increases thumb extension and abduction
- Restores motion to Metacarpal-Trapezium joint
- Releases Abductor pollicis brevis and surrounding fascia
Uses:
- Most important point for Thumb pain, tendonitis

Position:
- Palm side of hand facing up
- Make a fist
- Extend wrist back
- Stick thumb out as if hitch-hiking
Anatomy:
Bone
- On ventral wrist
- Metacarpal 1/trapezium joint
- Alt L 10
Muscle
- Abductor pollicis brevis
How to Locate:
- Palm side of hand
- On a line from the midline of the thumb
- To a line from the midline of the index finger
- Feel deep in the muscle for bone
- To help locate, find the joint on the dorsal side and feel for the palmar side of the joint
Acupressure Stretch Direction:
- Lateral/proximal
- Muscle compensation pattern: Abductor pollicis brevis moves medial/distal
